Spinel is a rare mineral with a rich palette of shades, can be transparent or opaque. It has high hardness and glassy luster, with an octahedral form.
Spinel stones are adorned with the Monomakh's Cap and the Vytellbach Crown, although previously believed to be rubies. The most famous deposits are found in Thailand, Vietnam, India, and Australia. Valuable red specimens are found in Myanmar, while blue gems are extracted in Sri Lanka.
The stone is quite hard, scoring 7.5-8 on the Mohs scale.
The mineral is fragile and easily damaged when struck against a hard surface.
The crystals have a glassy luster, sometimes displaying asterism and fluorescence.
Caring for Spinel Choker
Due to the natural fragility of the mineral, it requires careful handling.
Remove the spinel jewelry when engaging in physical activities, avoid contact with harsh chemicals, and prevent impacts. Store it in a separate box or case. Clean with a mild soapy solution and a soft brush every 3-4 months.
